TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Tuskegee University Football team and the Department of Athletics completed another community service event on Monday afternoon, totaling over 60 hours of community service in the Tuskegee Community.

Football student-athletes and staff members combined as a group of over 40 volunteers to give out school supplies that had been collected on campus over the month of July.

“Community service something we pride ourselves on at Tuskegee University,” said Director of Athletics Reginald Ruffin. “Service is a time that truly allows us to focus on our community in the Tuskegee area that supports us day in and day out. It also allows our student-athletes the opportunity to learn about the community and its people that in turn give back to our university and our programs.”

All of Tuskegee’s athletic teams participated in the drive donating all different kinds of school supplies. The items included crayons, pencils, pens, paper, erasers and backpacks among other items.

“We want to thank everyone who donated, participated, and helped plan our school supply drive, head coach Aaron James stated afterwards. “Our program is thankful for the continuous community support, and we will continue to strive to give back what our community gives to us.”
