TSU football’s Derrick Tucker became the third Tiger drafted by the USFL as he was taken by the New Jersey Generals in the sixth round of the 2023 USFL College Draft.
A two-year letterwinner at TSU who played safety, Tucker became the third Tiger (Deandre Johnson, Tim Walton, Jr.) under head coach Clarence McKinney to have been drafted by the league as all have been selected by the New Jersey Generals.
This past season, he had 27 tackles, two interceptions and two tackles for loss as the secondary was one of the strongest areas on the defense.
The season kicks off on April 15 as the Generals will play in the host city of Canton, Ohio. Training camp begins March 21.
